Nikki Z brings us our honorary Gutter Girl this month!! This month's Honorary Guest Designer is Susan!
I just love Susan's work! She has such a unique way of putting together pictures, paint and words....Here is her take on this month's prompt Fingerprints....
And check out some more of her fantastic work...You can tell her whole heart goes into all of her pages!

Let's learn a little bit more about Susan shall we?
Are you artistic in other ways/mediums?
Yes I am. I sew but it really is not my thing (meaning I don't enjoy it that much). I am going to make a tutu for Miss Aubrey right now ..shhh.don't tell Sarah. I also can create a a stunning table scape. I just started creating alter art and love collage.
Is there a scrap technique/style you are afraid to try or feel clueless about?
There is nothing I am afraid to try and several things I am clueless about. I continue to learn new techniques all of the time.
Who or what gives you the most inspiration when you create?
Other artist, other scrappers, the world around me and my family
If you had a super power, what would it be and why?
The power to heal cancer!
What cause or charity organization is most important to you?
Project Ed Bear is a not for profit all volunteer organization dedicated to providing comforts and needs for pediatric patients. My son Ede had bone tumors when he was 11. He is a healthy 27 year old young man now. We started Project Ed Bear together 16 years ago.
What was your most embarrassing moment?
I have had many but the one that comes to mind is when the back of my sundress became pull up with my panties after I went to the bathroom and I walked down the street with my husband for a long time before someone (woman) pulled me aside to let me know that my ass was hanging out. She said it much nicer than that! :)
Have you ever had plastic surgery? Would you?
Yes!! I had a tummy tuck last year. I will probably have nips and tucks as I get older and sag more. : )
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Seriously? How much space do I have..lol
Weaknesses:
I procrastinate
I say YES too often
I fail to schedule down time and then get mad about it
I am messy
I sometimes spend more money than I should
and the list goes on and on
Strengths:
I am an encourager
I am confident
I am not pretentious
I love and accept my friends and family as they are
I don't try to change anyone
(the last two strengths have only come after years of working on them and I am so much happier now)!
What was the most useful criticism you ever received?
Don't ever go to bed angry at your husband (or anyone really).
Are you the life of the party or do you blend into the background?
Depends on the party and the people but most the time I am the lie of the party.
Are you always on time or always late?
Almost always about 5 minutes late....drives my husband crazy as he is an always early kind of guy!
Are you spontaneous or do you prefer to plan everything out?
I plan but I am much more of a spontaneous person
What's your favorite Holiday tradition? Why?
The Gold gift! I give each of my children, grandchildren, husband and mother a gift wrapped in gold paper each year at Christmas that is just from me and not from Skip and I together.. This is a special gift chosen just for that person by me. It rarely is anything that they have asked for but often times their favorite gift . I shop for them all year long and when I find the perfect something that I know each person will love.I buy it. Examples are I gave Ede a first Edition of Catcher in the Rye one year and Buddy Holly's first album that was released another year(both things he LOVES but would never have even have thought to ask for. I gave Sarah's husband a picture of the first Massillon football team ever.. etc.
If your friends were asked to describe you, what 3 words would they use?
caring faithful and creative (I asked Sarah and this is what she said).
If you could be anyone famous, who would it be?
Myself..I AM famous you know! lol
Tell us ONE thing about you that nobody else would know?
Sarah is here with me and she says I should say that I am not a good driver and that I drive too slow...I think I should say that I was invited to the White house to meet the President (and I went)! OR maybe it should be I am not as nice as everyone thinks I am..lol Take your pick!
We'll be changing the way we are running our prompt schedule coming next month! I'll be creating a post in the next couple days about how things will run this coming year!!
Our random number generator picked

End of the Month MOJO May '10
OH MAN!! I totally lost track of my days!! It's the END OF THE MONTH!! I nearly forgot to get our end of the month MOJO up!!
Margrethe is hosting this month's End of the Month MOJO as well as this month's prize. She has asked Julie to be this month's honorary Gutter Girl! Due to some mix-ups on Margrethe's part, (apparently I'm not the only one mixed up at least...) Julie didn't get a chance to do this May's prompt. Instead she'll be showing some of her other works of art - she truly is an amazing artist!
Bio: My name is Julie Fei-Fan Balzer and I am a mixed-media artist and
avid scrapbooker. I live in New York City (right in Times Square),
where my husband (also my college sweetheart) has graciously accepted
that everything we own is covered in paint! I like to make art that
has a handmade, primitive feeling to it. You'll find lots of paint,
ink, hand cutting, and crazy color in my work. And I dabble in
everything from quilting to quilling!
I have been lucky enough to be published in books and magazines
including Cloth Paper Scissors, Quilting Arts Gifts, Creating
Keepsakes, Memory Makers, Scrapbook Trends, Somerset Memories, and
others! I regularly appear on both Scrapbook Memories TV (PBS) and
Quilting Arts TV (PBS). I am on the design teams for InfoCrea, Pencil
Lines, and Prima. I teach a live web class for Prima twice a month.
The classes are free, so be sure to check them out at
LiveWithPrima.com. I also teach around NYC, and will also be teaching
at CREATE (the CPS mixed media retreat) in Chicago, and for another
retreat in France in November. Also I'm excited to share that Cloth
Paper Scissors will be releasing my hour long DVD (lots of great
painting and texturizing techniques) in late July!
I've been scrapbooking for about seven years. It took me a while to
find my voice, but I've enjoyed every step of that journey. I love to
tell stories and make a mess and scrapbooking allows me to do both!
10 Random Scrapbooking Thoughts from Me:
1. I can't live without my Ranger Heat It Craft Tool (I'm an impatient
creator and it makes paint dry!) or my Cutterbee scissors.
2. I try to do something creative every single day.
3. Always try the things that scare you.
4. I am drawn to art that is quirky and unique, just as I am drawn to
people who are quirky and unique.
5. Gel Medium will always work when nothing else will stick this-to-that.
6. Don't ever be afraid to ruin it. You can't. Be brave and add that
next layer!
7. Use the photos of yourself with a double chin. Seriously.
8. One of the things I love most about scrapbooking is the community
that it creates. I adore going to crops!
9. Try to always put on apron. Otherwise, all your shirts will have
paint on them.
10. Perfection is overrated.
You can see more of Julie's art on her blog: Balzer Designs
For those of you dying to play along, post a direct link to your Gutter inspired projects in a comment on this post, THIS CURRENT POST or the one coming up on June 15th!! Your name will be put in the hat to win our prize from MARGRETHE: A $20 gift certificate from Studio Calico! We'll also keep our eyes open through the comments here for our NEXT guest gutter girl!!
We'd like to ask KeepSakeCrafts to be our GUEST designer for the upcoming prompt on the 15th!! Please email us using the email address (or the form if you click the email image) and use JUNE GUEST as your subject line! Let us know if you are interested!!
Our random number generator has selected CHERYL!! "Hi I love the textures ,too. I went with the song from concrete blond and re wrote the lyrics my interpretation is at www.scrapaddict4sure.com " Congratulations, Cheryl!! You've got yourself a 35$ gift certificate to TallyScrapper.com!! Send me an email with MAY PRIZE in your subject line, and I'll give you the details on how to redeem that!

End of the Month MOJO Apr '10
Patti is hosting our End of the Month Mojo as well as our prize this month!! She has asked Gina to be our honorary gutter girl!!
I am completely flattered to be chosen as an Honorary Gutter Girl! I witnessed the launch of this site and have watched it grow and evolve. Rachel has created an amazing place to come and be honest and raw with your emotions through art. WTG, girlz for taking the concept and running with it!!!
A Little Bit About Me
I am a proud New Yorker...born and raised on Long Island. I have been married to my High School sweetheart for almost 14 years. We have 3 beautiful children, Sydney (9), Jack (7) and Sophia (3) as they tend to be the major subjects of my scrapbook pages.
By trade, I am a Special Education Teacher, specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorders. However, I am currently staying home to raise my children. Keeping up with their activities is a full time job in and of itself! J
I have been scrapping for about 5 1/2 years now. It all began with 1 photo of my daughter, Sydney in her dance recital costume and the rest is history.
I am generally a single photo scrapbooker, always making it the main focus of my page. I use lots of paper layering and have a love of white space! My style (which I have no clue what it is) can vary a bit, depending on which child I am scrapping for. Jack's pages tend to look a bit different from my girls. I like to think outside the box and try new things and my “style” is ever evolving however I am always true to it.
I am a published scrapbooker and have been in various paper magazines, ezines and books, including Scrapbook and Cards Today, Scrapbook Trends Babies 2007 Idea Book and most recently, Somerset Memories. I have designed and taught classes for many online scrapbooking sites and kit clubs as well as my local scrapbook store and love sharing my passion for the art scrapbooking with others.

Gina created this for our current prompt!!
Details:

Patti took some time and asked Gina some Q too!
1. Who or what gives you the most inspiration when you create?
I have always had a love for photography, even as a child. Often, I find much of my inspiration from my own photographs. When I develop them, they speak to me in a sense and my creative juices begin to flow! I, too, look for inspiration in my surroundings...my home, my yard and all types of magazines.
2. What is your proudest accomplishment in life?
The easy answer would my children but I am sure everyone says that because it is usually the case for most people...including myself. So, aside from the obvious, I would have to say it was graduating with honors and caring a 4.0 Grade Point Average throughout Graduate School. Hard work but worth it! :)
3. Are you artistic in other ways/mediums?
You know, I never thought I was. Can't draw or paint to save my life. However, I have always had a sense of style and fashion...love fabric and patterns. This "art" carried over to my decorating skills. I love to decorate my home and have been told that I have an "eye" for it. Maybe I missed my calling? :)
4. Is there a scrap technique/style you are afraid to try or feel clueless about?
Anything that requires tools that need to be plugged in, like sewing machines, heat embossing tools, irons, etc.
5. Are you spontaneous or do you prefer to plan everything out?
You know that quote, "Just Do it"? That is my take when it comes to scrapbooking. Who has time to plan? I am lucky if I have the time these days to actually create anything!
6. Have you been published? How did it make you feel?
Yes, I am lucky enough to have been published several times over. I am always flattered when my pages are accepted for publication. However, my family and scrapbook friends are the only people I share it with. Don't want to sound like I am bragging, kwim?
7. How do you feel about glitter mist? Love it? Or hate it?
Oooh...Glimmer Mist! When it first hit the shelves, I had to have every color they made. Patti can attest to it. In fact, she made be buy them...all! The kicker is I did not touch them for months and months. Once I remembered I had Glimmer Mist in my stash, I busted it out and have used it frequently on my pages ever since. Love it!
Here are a few of Gina's layouts

Rachel here! My apologies!! I got our post ready last night, and neglected to include our honorary gutter girl that Glenda found for us!! Please welcome Michelle, and prepare to be inspired by her!!
My name is Michelle LaPoint Rydell and I'm so excited to be an honorary gutter girl!!! I love the concept of being open and honest with your art and couldn't wait to get going with this challenge!
I'm a public guardian by day, and an obsessed scrapbooker and art journaler by night! I like to get messy with my art and use lots of intense color!
When I married my soulmate Michael in 2007, I inherited three awesome stepkids and became a “mom” for the first time at age 47! How great is that?!!! I love my new life, and my two funny felines Willie and Johnny love their new home in the country! I'm lucky enough to have a scraproom now, and most evenings, the cats and I spend our time down there creating to our heart's content!
I started my first scrapbook in the early 1970's with an article about David Cassidy (of the Partridge Family) being hospitalized – LOL. I've been pasting mementos of life in one form of scrapbook or another ever since!
This challenge was right up my alley – what a great combination of elements! I love the message of the Miley Cyrus song, and I've certainly climbed some difficult mountains in my life! I do believe it's what you do with each day along the road that counts. I love the idea of the “road trip” of life, and wanted my layout to reflect that.
Here's Michelle's Take on our Current Prompt!
Music has always been a huge source of inspiration for me. I totally dig the poetry of lyrics and have been writing them down in notebooks ever since I was a kid. I'm also inspired by the daily sights, sounds, and happenings of life. I look around me and see inspiration everywhere! I love the messy stuff. Paint, gesso, spray inks, poster paint markers. I also love to do detailed cutting with my tiny scissors.
I also LOVE to art journal! I currently have about six different art journals going at once – each with a different purpose or theme.
Here is some of Michelle's work!
This layout was part of a week-long challenge hosted by my friend Marit in the Netherlands. They celebrate the new year by playing the top 2000 songs of all time on the radio during the last week of the year; and the challenge was to scrap one of those songs each day. I love the song “Mr. Jones” by Counting Crows and when I saw it on the list I had to scrap it. The reason I love this layout is that I was looking to capture the feeling of the song, and for me, it does that. The silhouette is actually a photograph of frontman Adam Duritz (from the web) which I turned into a stencil.
This art journal page was done for last year's “A Year In The Life of an Art Journal” project. I loved using the multimedia techniques, and the quote about Magic is one of my faves. P.S. The photo is from a magazine – I didn't take it :0).
This layout has a special place in my heart because it is about my husband's sobriety. He is such an inspiration to me and I love that photo of him.
This was a layout for the Scrapping The Music challenge blog. The song (Drive by Incubus) was one I picked out, and it was just a lot of fun to make!
I love this layout because it reflects the special part that animals play in my life.
Thank you so much for allowing me to join you as an honorary gutter girl!!!
You can get more inspiration from Michelle on line at these places!

Hi Glenda here. I am such a sucker for mists right now and am loving using the Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists. Here is my much loved collection at the moment (my Precious.......)
When I look at mists I see endless possibilities, backgrounds and fun. I love using stencils (store bought plus I make my own) and the Tattered Angels Glimmer Screens. In this next picture here is the paper before I misted with a glimmer screen on it
and these are the colors I chose to use for my project (aren't they pretty????)
So I misted over the screen until I got the look I wanted, carefully lifted the glimmer screen off and let the paper dry. Then I just let my imagination run wild and made this
What a difference the Glimmer Mists made to that plain paper right? Also, don't forget you can use the negative side of the glimmer screen since it is usually still wet and covered in mists after you have used it so what I did was take a plain piece of white cardstock and flip the wet glimmer screen over and press it onto the white cardstock. Now I have that same image as above but the negative image is in color. I have covered alot of it up with the pictures but this is what it looks like
On this layout I didn't even use any patterned paper because the mists and paint were all that was needed for a background. I also love spraying my mists and having them drip down my page as shown on these art journal pages (and I do this alot!!!)
So there you have it! Now you all know that my name is Glenda Tkalac and I am a misting maniac!! mmaawwaaaaaa! If you've never played with mists run, don't walk, and grab some and let your inner child free! It is sooo much fun to play with and gives such a unique and individual look to your art. Have fun!!

End of the Month MOJO Jan '10
We're excited to be able to have Joyce as our Guest AND Highlighted Gutter Girl!! She plays with us regularly here in the gutter, and I always LOVE the things she shares!!

Two things happened at once, as I was gazing at the prompt info. My first thought was “what am I going to do with that!!” and deciding not to listen to the music until I was completely done. On the tail of that I got to thinking of growing up and realized that I could do a school theme. Remembered I had this little plastic donkey and it all seemed to come together after that. Found out that embroidering the chain stitch in the shape of a bow doesn’t work real well. I worked some of the lyrics into the title.
Oh no, not me Oh no,
not not me, not me…never ever me
It’s just happened, some kid has blurted out something that would make a sailor blush and it was smack dab in the middle of church service!
As the collective gasp gives way to all the kids saying “Mommy, he said a lot of bad words”, and as the pastor gets back on track, the red faces mellow. You can bet with pretty good odds in your favor that at least half of the parents are pondering the nightmare of this ever happening to them and how, unbeknownst to us kids, those parental thoughts would lead to every kid’s nightmare…REFORM SCHOOL
In the little pouch are some of the replacement words: kiss my asp, phooey crackers, shucks, shoot, darn-dang, golly, gee, gosh, turd, horse patooty, hockey puck, blast!!!
P.S. The playing card is my nod to the Gutter Girlz.
Mom never stopped us from going places because there might be cussing and bad manners, etc.
Mom worked the Golden Rule into her lessons on bad language.
Mom: “How does it make you feel?” Me: “Mom, I don’t care how it makes me feel, I just want to say it!” She wanted us to really think, to know why we were saying what we were saying. Not because we had heard it somewhere and thought it would be cool to repeat. We learned what the cuss words meant ~ Mom kept it age appropriate and from there we had to make up our own to replace them. In our social circle at the school playground and neighborhood, I learned very quickly that a lot of the kids had potty mouth and when asked why they said bad words, it was either because they had heard it somewhere or didn’t know why. As we got older the “damn” jar funded most of our family nights once a month. Found out in tenth grade speech class that “gosh”, “golly” and “gee” were forms of “god”. So we could no longer use them. (As I recall I enjoyed telling my Mom about that!) As I look back I can remember a few times when my brother and I got going with the cuss words when no one else was around; and I’m remembering that sarcasm began playing a heavy role in how we treated each other at times.
Kristy also came to share some goodness in the form of a technique!! This lil technique is one of my favs. You can take this and combine it with the yummy goodness Lara showed us a while ago with paints. Oh the possiblilites girls! I'm talking about masking! Masking is just where you take any object and either paint or mist over the top to create a negative effect.
Great practioners of this easy to do technique are our own Glenda
You can use anything! Even your own hand like Lara did :) That old chipboard shape or letter set that is kinda eh can be all new and reusable. Don't have anything handy? Do my fav and just free hand a shape. Take a piece of scrap cardstock, sketch your shape out, snip snip snip, then just position it on your page and spray or paint right over the top. Lift it off and see the finished product! Its like christmas! You can save and reuse that shape again and again. Here's a couple examples...
Lace paper? That is a super fun mask! Regular lace ribbon? Also good! Take a look around and I bet you'll find a ton of things you have that will find new purpose. Have fun with it!

End of the Month MOJO Dec'09
Rachel here! Another year is ENDING!! When did that HAPPEN!? I seriously can't figure out where my year went. This month, I'm excited to share one an Honorary Gutter Girl with you that I know you'll love. Please welcome Christina!!
My name is Christina Padilla aka CP. I live on the beauiful central coast of California with my hubby of 8 years and two little kiddos, who although I adore to the fullest, they drive me crazy most days! I've been into scrapbooking for quite some time now and basically put my finger in all the crafty pots. Making jewlery, decorating for the holidays, fashion, I'm all over it. I love to layer on my pages and put together little clusters of goodness. I'm a huge fan of color and mixing patterns. I dig it. I'm completely adddicted to Facebook. You can always find me on there on the daily. Really, people, I'm serious.
I'm super excited to be an Honorary Gutter Girl this month. You all are so fabulous! Wishing you all a fantastic and creativity filled 2010!
When I read the prompt title "I'm only fine," right away I thought about my husband. He is the love of my life and with out him in it, well, I just can't phathom the thought! Can't do it! I’m only fine with him in my life. I went with that feeling and titled it "Only You." The picuture I used is a favorite of mine from this past summer. Somehow we never seem to get behind the camera together for picutres of us. Gotta address that for 2010! The georgous My Minds Eye papers and tags color theme of muted blues, greens and beige inspired the vintage-y look I was going for. The "mesh/gauze" was incorporated into the flower by simply cutting some circles out of tulle, layering with flowers and paper then securing with a Basic Grey fabric brad.
I'm super excited to be guesting with The Gutter Girlz this month. You all are so fabulous! Wishing you all a fantastic and creativity filled 2010! Thank you for the inspiration!
You can see more of Christina on her BLOG, and on the sites she designs for! SCRAPJACKED, POINT BLANK PERIOD and TWILIGHT PAPERCUT!
Here's more of Christine's work!! Thank you so much, Christine, for playing in our gutter!! I love all your layers and bits. Your pages always make me smile!
Be on the lookout for her here in the gutter again in FEB!! We'll be swapping Design Teams with one of the teams Christina is on!
Our sponsor for the next month is Treasured Scrapbooking!! Erin is donating the January Kit #1. retailing at $27.95!!! Treasured Scrapbooking is online only, but Erin will accept local pick ups if someone happens to be local! (very cool, I think!) Erin is also offering YOU gutter girlz a SPECIAL DISCOUNT!!
